Grading 29th June
I find it difficult to pass comments and congratulations to all the students who tried and passed their respective gradings without sounding false and condescending as it seems to be an echo of what was said last time.
Safe to say though - I am immensely proud to have such commitment and dedication at the club - another 100% pass result was well deserved by all.
Joe said to me later on that the standard was very high, and as you saw for yourselves the grading seemed to be over quickly, the reason for this, he says, is because there was so little to correct. He commented on how well versed all students are technically - each task he asked for was done exactly as it is supposed to be done.
All I can say in earnest is - thank you and very well done.
Keep up the good work. |

nr Tullibody
Usual rules apply - do not approach jail reception if late or lost - contact me on the number below
First of all, apologies for the lateness of this information, out of my hands - honest !
This Sunday is grading day for all IKMF students and will begin early as it's going to be a long one.
We will begin with a three hour seminar for all students starting at 11am and running until 2pm. Note that even if you have not trained with us before you will be made welcome and as usual it is an excellent way to get a look at some of our training methods from one of the best instructors in the UK.
There will then be an hour break to refresh / snack / get some fresh air whatever.
At 3pm the grading will begin. All grades from p1 to p4 will be tested - this will take up to four hours - 7pm.
Even if you do not intend to grade your attendance would be greatly appreciated, as many will testify, Joe's seminars/training days are nothing short of fantastic and it is a given that you will leave with far more than you arrived with...
If you do intend to grade full IKMF uniform must be worn although I would suggest at least one extra t-shirt and a towel would be a good idea.
If you wish a snack bring it with you, again, something light is the order of the day - nuts, fruit, mars bar etc.
Costs:
seminar -------------------- £25
grading - p1 -------------- £35 -[ this includes the cost of your IKMF passport. ]
p2 / 3 / 4 ---- £25
IF YOU WISH TO TAKE PART IN THE SEMINAR AND GRADING PLEASE DEDUCT £10 FROM THE OVERALL TOTAL
As usual - any queries/concerns please call me on the number below.
Good luck

Joe Ambrosino returns to give us another four hour session. The ever popular Expert heads north again to pass on some of the knowledge he has gained from his trips around the world studying under some of the best names in the IKMF. All students from all styles welcome.
If this is to be your first look at the krav maga system then there is no better platform from which to view it.
The session usually lasts for three hours but in accordance with the wishes of all students asked - four hours was the preference. Cost is £20 [ as usual £5 per hour ] and your attendance would be greatly appreciated as well as being of considerable help to those students who wish to grade in July.
See you 12.30 / 12.45, usual place in the main car park. If you are late or lost contact me DIRECT on the number below - do not approach jail reception ! Bring plenty of water and a light snack [ nuts, fruit etc] Any problems, queries, issues do not hesitate to get in touch.
Look forward to seeing you there.

Sunday 13th April - training with Joe.
He's back again... this time a real session.
Four hours training with one of the best in the UK.
As usual, all krav maga students most welcome.
Training will start at 1pm and run until about 5 / 6 - there will be a short break to allow you to re-fuel, so bring a light snack and plenty of water. [This is strongly advised]
All KMScotland students are EXPECTED to attend, [students from other clubs would be warmly welcomed] - as you know - the more worthwhile we make it for Joe to make the trip the longer we can expect him to do so, as a mark of respect for his efforts I would appreciate seeing you there.

Sunday 16th March - grading Glenochil jail
Congratulations to the students of all grades who attempted and passed their respective gradings. The result of hard work and effort made for another high standard of grading. KM Scotland holds a 100% pass record - thanks to the commitment of it's students - and long may that continue.
As has been said through the ages - ''quality is never an accident''.
This does not mean however that we rest on our laurels - as progression is made through the system, effort must be commensurate - in order to keep the quality of techniques we learn high, when grading, as you may already know, we do not just test on things relative to a particular part of the syllabus - you are tested on the WHOLE syllabus, every time. I know this may seem hard but what is the use of forgetting the basics just to get another badge. It makes common sense to me and is as clever as everything else the system shows us.
So, again, I thank and applauded your efforts - we do not need to crow to the world how good we are - our results speak volumes themselves.
Well done and keep up the good work.
I will also take this opportunity to thank Joe for coming North again - it is this kind of help, assistance and team spirit within the IKMF that makes it so good to be involved in and must surely make new-comers feel at ease to a part of such a fantastic organisation.
Please pencil a note into your diary for the 13th April when he will return for a 'proper' training session - with his mixture of humour and world class ability I am both pleased and proud that he looks after us the way he does - you know you are guaranteed to hobble away exhausted and painful but full of new tricks and an increased ability level.
This event will be confirmed nearer the time. |

Sunday 17th Feb
Joe visited us again and ran another immensely enjoyable seminar.
Three hours of training in the way that only he knows how !
Light and informative with the focus seemingly on fun - until the pressure testing began and everything fell into place. You wouldn't even know you were being trained !
I think I speak for all that took part when I say we can't wait for the next one. |

8th February
Following my appointment as the Scottish coordinator by Eyal and Nick I am pleased to announce an improved training 'link' for all of us in Scotland.
Joe Ambrosino [ Expert level 1 ] has very kindly agreed to travel North to us on a monthly basis [ his own personal schedule allowing ] - and hold training for all students of krav maga in Scotland.
Irrespective of the club you currently train in or the level you have attained thus far you are more than welcome to come along and enjoy three hours of physical torture with one of the best in the UK - all this fun for only £5 per hour ...!
We ran a 'tester' like this late last year for students of my own classes - I can report that whilst most were exhausted - everyone enjoyed the day immensely as Joe has an almost bottomless pit when it comes to drills, ideas and training methods in general.
This session will include knife defences. The beauty of the venue are the mock cells available to train in - clearly it is one thing to train in an open area/matted gym but something completely different in tight and difficult to move areas - true 'close quarter' situations.
The first session will be on Sunday the 17th Feb at Glenochil jail from 6pm til 9pm.
Could you please let me know if you wish to attend -I must know in advance due to the nature of the venue - I can answer any queries you may have at that point also. |
...............
Grading: there will be a grading for all P1 and P3 students in March. The date pencilled in is Sunday the 16th please check back as this is yet to be confirmed.
Again this is open to all students of all clubs.
As you are probably aware P2 students must be graded by one of the Global team, there are moves afoot to get some kind of dispensation for us in Scotland until the numbers make it financially worthwhile to get one of the Global team here regularly. At this moment [ largely due to the instructors course in England] there are no Global team members available but I am in touch with Nick regularly and he will let me know when we can run a P2.
The gradings will be officially recognised IKMF gradings with students receiving stamped passports and certificates - these stamps are proof that you have passed if you travel to train at another club somewhere else the world - as insignificant as the 'stamp' may appear it is the only proof you have that says you have attained that grade and therefore is very necessary.
Again - please let me know of your intention to grade before the event - gradings now are moving toward a 'no pay on the day' - so monies must be in well before hand. |

Student insurance.
Nasty subject but one we must all pay greater attention to.
It has come to light that a professional 'scammer' is joining classes in martial arts down south and intentionally getting hurt. The following claim can be financially painful even if unsuccessful [ lawyers fees etc.]
Please ensure your insurance is up to date and if you are training with someone who does not have any be very careful - it is entirely up to you should you wish not to train with a 'new start' until that individual has his/her own policy.
We use the British Combat Association - student to student policies are a very reasonable £16 per year and details are available via me or possibly your own instructor.
My contact details are available on this site so please feel free to get in touch with any krav maga related issue you may have. |
