Krav Maga - "contact combat", is an eclectic hand-to-hand combat system - mostly known for its extremely efficient and brutal counter-attacks.

It was derived from street-fighting skills developed by Imi Lichtenfeld - the founder of the system - in the late 1930's, as a means of defending the Jewish quarter during a period of anti-Semitic activity in Bratislava.

In the late 1940s, following his immigration to Israel, he began to provide hand-to-hand combat training to what was to become the IDF, developing the techniques that became known as Krav Maga.

Krav Maga has a philosophy emphasizing threat neutralization, by using simultaneous defensive and offensive manoeuvres coupled with aggression and instinctive reactions to all forms of attack - armed/unarmed, single/multiple attackers, attacks from all directions, heights and levels. It is the chosen system of many military units, law enforcement and SWAT teams, VIP protection, air marshalls and close on to half a million civilian practitioners from across the globe.
